De Slager’s
Same family. Same knives. Same Saturday line.
Johannes De Slager has run the butcher shop since 1977, when Jeroen handed him the case. Some of you still remember Jeroen. Some of you remember Willem as a boy behind the counter, too short for the block and already talking like he would not stay on it.
Willem works nights now. Thomas, the younger brother, covers the counter in the daylight. That is the whole succession. Nobody here needs a census to know which De Slager is wrapping the paper.
The shop is a pin on a fictional map. There is no address to visit and no meat to order through this desk. If you came for a souvenir of the town, the register is the gift shop.
